Where has the time gone....

In case there is anyone out there who still reads our blog, I guess it's time for an update. I keep thinking there will be a point when Carson quits changing so much, but I haven't hit that point yet.
Here are some of our favorite things he is doing:
-running to his room, coming back to tell us "i'll be right back" then going back to his room
-singing songs with us at night. his favorite seems to be twinkle, twinkle
-telling us more about his day. i love hearing about his day from his point of view
-kevin asked him something the other day and he said "i'll have to get back to you"
-he is getting so much better about sharing his toys with his friends (but he still has his two year old moments of "MINE!")
-he loves to be outside, kevin got out his golf set the other day and he has been having so much fun with it
-last night at dinner he kept saying "one...two....three....go to time out!" (wonder where he got that from :) )
-there are so many other things, hopefully kevin will post some of his favorite later.

We went to Athens over spring break to visit some of my family and had so much fun. Carson had a blast playing with Jacee and Michael and we got to spend a lot of time outside!

Much to Learn

     Kathy walked into the kitchen this morning and said: "I don't think Carson fully understands the idea of timeout." I asked why and she said: "because he is drowning his men in the bathtub when he puts them in timeout."
     It's funny that he grasps the idea of timeout. His men hit each other, no naturally they must go to timeout as punishment. But then he doesn't grasp the idea that holding them under water would not be an effective form of timeout because, well you know......
     It got me to thinking that we have taught Carson so much and he has gotten a lot of those concepts but he hasn't learned everything he needs to know, I mean he is only 2.   But you know what? We can't wait to teach him more and more about everything that is important for him to know. I love that he has picked up so many concepts already and love that we get to teach him more and more as each day goes by.

Long time since the last post so I promise this one will be profound and earth shattering....

I had one of my proudest moments as a father a couple days ago. Carson was able to name every Superhero on my Justice League T-Shirt. I'm glad I am able to impart so much wisdom on our young son. At least he knows the really important things. Of course it wasn't really one of my proudest moments as a father but it was pretty cool to know how well he listens and how he is able to pick so many things up so fast.

Here is a video of Carson riding his bike he got from his Aunt Steffy and Mimi on his birthday. Once he figured out how to use the pedals it was smooth sailing from there. He seems more grown up each and every day.

Here are two recent videos of Carson. He is learning so much at school and comes home singing new songs and saying new things all the time. We love the daycare at the church and are so glad Carson goes to school there. He's started being able to carry on short conversations and it's always interesting to hear what he has to say about his day. The other day he was very excited and said "I take my nap!" (this doesn't always happen). Another time he said "I eat my sandwich."

A Prayer

Carson got moved up to the next class at preschool last week. In this class they sing a prayer before they eat. Carson has been singing it and I finally got it on video, it's pretty cute! It seems like he picks up new words everyday. The other day he couldn't find something and Kevin heard him say "bummer" He also likes to sing songs, his favorite is Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star....of course he wouldn't sing it when I asked him to! 2 Years Old!

I can't believe that Carson is 2!!! These last 2 years we have had so much fun and we have learned so much. Carson is a ball of energy and keeps us busy. He loves to play outside and go down his slide or play in the water. He also loves to ride a scooter or tricycle When we are inside he likes to play with his choo choo trains, take things out of the pantry, read books, and wrestle (he loves to tackle Kevin). I wanted to put some things down that he is doing so we can remember.

Things he says:
-Watch this mommy/daddy followed by random stuff
-Me do it!!!
-What happened?
-Sorry! (it's so sweet when he says that and gives you a hug)
-Peace out dude
-He loves to talk about people he has seen

Stats from his check-up - I don't remember percentiles, but he is tall and skinny (like his dad!)
Height - almost 37 inches
Weight - 30 lbs

Things he knows:
-most colors
-he can count to 10, but doesn't always count in the right order :)
-some shapes
-he is pretty good about remembering names
-he knows the difference between soccer ball, basketball, football, and baseball (Kevin taught him this!)
-We pretty much think he is a genius (but we might be a little biased)

He likes to watch Cars, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and the Backyardigans (although he won't sit still for a whole episode!)

His best buds are Lydia and Kynlee...he gets a huge smile when we tell him he gets to play with one of them.

He makes us smile about 1000 times a day!! I try to remember that when he has his "terrible two" moments. He loves to be rocked before he goes to sleep. It's kind of a stall tactic so he won't have to go to sleep, but we don't mind the snuggle time!!

I'm sure I'll think of more later.

We had lots of summer fun this weekend! Friday we played outside with the neighbors until 8:00. Saturday Carson played in our little pool with Kynlee. Sunday we went to the lake with Grammy and Pops. And today we went to the Granbury "Beach" with the neighbors. Carson loves being outside and loves being in the water. He was cracking us up at the beach today, he would get in the sand, say "ready, set, go" and run into the water until he fell. We are so lucky to have neighbors that we have fun with!! We don't really play inside anymore because we are always outside hanging out with our friends! Here are some pictures of all our fun!! I'll post some from the lake later.

Where did April Go?

Well it's been two months since we last posted! Carson has changed so much since March. He knows most of his colors now, yellow (lellow) is his favorite to say. Sometimes he will just repeat it over and over! He is getting pretty good at counting. Carson will play outside all day if you let him, as soon as we get home he starts saying "outside play" We have a blast outside with our neighbors. Between us there are 8 kids and they all get along pretty well. Carson gets lots of practice sharing while we are playing with them. Sometimes he will be so sweet and share what he has and other times he says mine and pushes the other kid away! He doesn't walk very much anymore because he runs everywhere he goes! Although he is a stinker, he does have his sweet moments. This weekend I wasn't feeling good and he said "sorry momma....hugs" It melts my heart to see him be so sweet. I try to remember those sweet moments when he his throwing a fit because we can't find his shovel (shobel). I'll have to say this stage of Carson's life is a blast! We have so much fun with him and he cracks us up all the time!

Here is a picture of Carson from yesterday morning. He refused to let me put his clothes back on after I changed his diaper and then insisted I put on his cowboy boot slippers his Aunt Debbie gave him for Christmas. I'm sure he'll regret these decisions later when we show this picture to a girl he likes :)

Here is a cute picture of Carson today (I bet you can't guess who dressed him!) I tried really hard to get a picture of him smiling and standing still....but that doesn't happen very often in our house! So here is a picture of him on the run.

We are going to a Big Band Dance tonight at church for our Valentine's date. Unlce Jason (or as Carson says...Jay Jew) is here to watch Carson while we go out. I'm sure they'll have a blast!!

Our neighbor Karlee had her birthday part today at the Jumping Party in Granbury. Last time we went there Carson was not very impressed with the big slide, in fact he screamed all the way down and for a while after that. Today was a different story. He had so much fun. Here are two videos I took with our new video camera today.

Carson is such a monkey and loves to climb on everything!! He had no problem climbing up the steps all by himself (this is not the big slide its a smaller more "Carson" size slide! I'll have to admit that it makes me a little sad that he can do that on his own but Kevin keeps telling me its a good thing. I guess I'll just have to trust my husband!

Carson wanted to slide down with Karlee but took a little tumble. He thought about getting upset but decided he was having too much fun! As soon as the camera got turned off he said "slide, slide" so we went down it again.

I also appreciate Kevin A LOT more after taking Carson to this party. He usually plays with Carson and lets me talk to the other moms, but he has his big youth retreat at church this weekend so it was just me and Carson. I was excited about taking Carson to the party because I knew he would get worn out and sleep good tonight, but I'll sleep good tonight too!

Carson isn't quite big enough to climb up on the couch yet, although if something or someone is close enough he will use them/it to climb up on the couch! Anyways he is a pretty clever kiddo so he figured out a way he can get on the couch without any help...

It was 3 years ago today that we said "I do." I know 3 years isn't really that long but so much has happened in such a short time. We moved to Granbury, both started new jobs, bought a house, and had a baby. I love telling people how we met. I was a Jr. High Youth Director and Kevin was working for a Jr. High Mission Trip called JUMMP. I took my students on the mission trip that was in Beaumont. At first I was not so fond of Kevin, he had given me some REALLY bad directions and got me REALLY lost. On Wednesday we were going out to a lake and he didn't have a ride. My mom made me invite him to ride with us. When we got to the lake he locked my keys in my trunk (another strike!). While we were waiting for the locksmith we started talking and I realized he wasn't that bad afterall. After the trip was over we started dating. We both knew pretty soon after we started dating that we were going to get married.

Kevin is the most wonderful husband ever. He takes care of me when I'm sick, helps around the house, loves me when I'm crazy (and when I'm not), is a FANTASTIC father to Carson, encourages me when I'm down, consoles me when I'm sad, laughs with me (and sometimes at me) and so many other things. I am so lucky to be married to such a wonderful man.

Sick Baby!

So Carson has been sick before with an ear infection and strep throat but he has never thrown up until yesterday.....

We went up to school to watch the 7th grade football game (Kevin has a bunch of students who play football). Carson was very still which is a VERY rare thing for him. He was just chillin and he wasn't very interested in eating goldfish. We didn't think much of it.

As we were leaving I stopped to talk to some people I know and then it happened. Carson threw up all over me and all over himself. I was so shocked and disgusted I couldn't move! Luckily Kevin was there and he moved us out of the way of everyone. We made it to the car and got him kinda cleaned up and headed home to put him in the bath.

I took the day off today because I thought he was sick but it must have just been something he ate because he was running around and screaming all day today. It was nice to have some time to spend with him during the week.

I guess I feel like an offical mom now that I have been thrown up on!! I'm sure that's not the grossest thing that will ever happen to me!!

Football

Well, since Tech won last year Carson had to wear clothes supporting Tech for the football game this year. Luckily Texas won this year, so he can look much cuter next year!! Carson has started doing so many new things that are so cute.

Here is what I can remember right now:

-When he wakes up he wants to take Tigger and his blanket out of bed with him

-He loves giving kisses to everyone (the dog is not so fond of this)

-When he is looking for something he bends over at the waist and tilts his head

-At nap time and bed time, when he is getting sleepy we ask him, "Are you ready to go night night?" If he is he will walk back to his room and try to climb in his crib. Most of the time he goes to sleep without a fight!!

-He is starting to actually play with the kids in the neighborhood. He really likes to watch the big kids play

-And the cutest thing...tonight after our prayer he said Aaaaaah men. It was precious.

-He has also picked up quite a few new words: book, up, please, thank you, uh oh

We think that Carson is about ready to give up the crawling and walk all the time. We finally got a short video of his bear crawl, which everyone thinks is unusual, and also here is a longer video of him walking. He spent most of the day today walking all over the house and all over the church when we went by there. Hopefully we can keep up when he starts running.

Fun Morning!

We had such a fun morning! We went to the park with Mary Kathryn and Lydia, then we went in played in the water at this cute little water park by the beach.

Carson is talking up a storm. He says daddy mommy, ball, and puppy all the time. He is starting to say new words everyday I'll try to let you know what it sounds like, he is saying shoes (shes), lydia (eeeea), more (mo), i know there's more but i can't think of them right now. Also today he started trying to say grammy (ammy) pops (pa) and mimi (mm).

Also, we decided to give Carson his milk this morning in his sippy cup instead of a bottle. At first he threw a FIT!!! He was screaming louder than he had in a while. When he finally took a sip he realized it was his milk and calmed down! Then when I tried to give him water in his sippy cup he looked at me like I was crazy b/c it wasn't milk.

Hawaii

I know some of you are thinking, "you're in hawaii what the heck are you doing blogging" but right now it's about 5 am and I am wide awake b/c it's 10am in Texas. Everyone else is still asleep but I have been cursed with the inability to go back to sleep once I wake up. That being said, I thought I would post about our trip so far so I wouldn't forget anything.
Friday
We get up and get ready and get to the airport in plenty of time super excited about our trip. We were supposed to leave at 2:30pm have a layover in LAX and get to Hawaii at 7:30 that evening. Well, American Airlines had different plans for us :) Our flight was delayed, we ended up staying the night in LA b/c we missed our connecting flight and got to Hawaii around 2pm on Saturday. It was a little frustrating at times, but we made friends with some other people that were going to Maui, so that was fun! On the positive side, b/c we had to get another flight we got seats in the exit row that had way more leg room. That was nice on the 5.5 hour flight :)

Saturday
The water here is so BLUE!!! It's the prettiest water I have ever seen. We landed, got our luggage, got our car and headed to the condo. We were greeted by my family and the fun began! We went to a luau that night and it was really cool. They had the roasted pig and everything! We randomly ran into some of our airport delay friends too! We were pooped, so we were in bed by 8:00 that night! (which is 1am in texas.....late night for me :)

Sunday
We woke up and headed out to the Road to Hana. It's this really twisty turny road up the side of a volcano (dormant volcano I might add). It was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful trees, beautiful flowers, beautiful view of the beautiful ocean...you get the picture. We hiked to some waterfalls, went swimming in two black sand beaches, hiked to another swimming hole for lunch, but didn't stay long b/c there were naked hippies swimming there :). The road itself was crazy!!! Very narrow, all the bridges were just one lane so you had to make sure no one else was coming. The locals that drive it everyday drive like maniacs! With no stops, it took 1.5 hours to drive 30ish miles. One side note....I accidentally almost killed me and my sister-in-law. We "parked" at a fruit stand. I was getting out of the car (Misty was in the back seat) and I forgot to put the car in park. As I was getting out the car started moving forward, everyone was freaking out. Luckily God was looking out for us b/c I ended up stopping the car 3 feet from the edge of this very steep cliff. I'm super glad God thought we should live longer!!!!!!! It was pretty stinking scary. The beaches we swam at were so fun. The waves are so much bigger here than Galveston. If you're not paying attention they will crash you to the ground!!!

Well, today is Monday. We are spending the day playing at the beach. Carson is having so much fun in Lubbock!!! He has been swimming a couple times and is getting to see a bunch of people he doesn't get to see very often. We miss him terribly, but it's a lot easier knowing he's having fun with his Mimi and Aunt Steffy!!!! I'll try to post some pictures later, I'm sure I'll be up super early tomorrow too!!

Today my baby turns 1 year old! I can not believe it has already been a year. At times it seemed like it was going by so slow, but looking back on it, the year has flown by.
A little bit about Carson these days:
-he loves climbing, i really think he is part monkey
-he is laughing A LOT!! he cracks up at the most random things
-he's not walking yet, but he can get around really fast crawling
-he is talking more and more everyday
-when he talks he looks at you like "don't you understand what i'm saying"
-he loves playing in the water
-he definetley has a "stong will" - must be from his dad :)
-we are the luckiest parents ever to have such a wonderful boy!

On another note, Carson now shares his birthday with Zachary Scott Keelen who was born this morning. My best friend since high school had her baby boy this morning! We are so excited for them!!!

Happy Easter Everyone!!!!! We hope everyone is having a wonderful, family filled day! We have had a fun weekend full of family :) Carson had his first Easter Egg "Hunt". I put it in quotes because he really just went to one egg and then stopped. It's hard to believe that next year he will be running to get the eggs!! Here are some pics.

Sping Break

Spring Break is finally here! A whole week of no work and just hanging out with Carson. It has been great so far. Kevin is skiing with the youth at Copper Mountain (he has a tough job but somebody has to do it!!) and me and Carson are hanging out with Grammy and Pops. Carson is having fun exploring and figuring things out. He has really been cracking up at things lately. Last night it was Pops and today it was the dogs. He just laughs and laughs and laughs. We are going to Lubbock Thursday morning to see the Anderson's. We haven't been since Thanksgiving so it will be fun to see everyone.

Changes All the Time

I never knew that a baby could change every day! It seems like each day brings a new discovery for Carson. He is standing up all the time (this morning when we went to get him he was standing up in his crib!), saying different sounds, figuring out new toys. He also loves giving kisses! He's finally starting to like eating. He gets a little impatient if you don't feed him fast enough (that must come from his dad, not me :) ). He still loves being outside, we are excited about playing outisde with him more when the weather gets nicer.

Carson is already 7 months old! It is so hard to believe. We went to the ENT on Monday and he is getting tubes on the 23rd. Hopefully this will help him have less ear infections. He has started liking his food more, he actually opens his mouth for it now, so you don't have to pry his mouth open to get it in there!!

Today is the perfect day for a snow day! We have been going, going, going, and it's nice to have an unexpected day off!! Time to relax and hang out! Carson's ear infection seems to be bothering him more than the others have. We have an appointment with an ENT on Monday, so we'll see what he has to say about his ear infections. We think that tubes might be in his near future. He is crawling pretty fast now and has started saying the "p" sound.

First Christmas!

We had a wonderful first Christmas as parents. We started on Saturday with the Knox family Christmas in Athens. Kevin and I got our big Christmas present on Monday, we got a new car! It's a bigger car than we had, which is nice and I feel safer with Carson in it! Wednesday night Grammy, Pops, Andy and Misty came to Granbury and we went to the Christmas Eve service. We all went to Arlington after that for dinner at watching old family movies. Then we had a great Christmas just hanging out with family and playing Wii.
Carson is crawling around everywhere. It is amazing how fast he is figuring out how to get around and get into things! He loves crawling after Buttons (our dog) and trying to pet her. Buttons is not so sure about this but seems to be warming up to the idea of a baby chasing her around. Here are some pictures.

Carson is really starting to get around! We hung out at Grammy and Pop's house this weekend. If we put his bucket of toys near him, he gets to it and knocks it over to take the toys out! It's pretty amazing that can do all of that. As my mom said, it seems like just a month ago he didn't even know what a toy was! He continues to amaze us with new things everyday!!

Things have been crazy around here! It seems like Christmas is sneaking up on us this year! I'm home today. Carson is sick, Kevin is sick and part of my tooth fell off!! I feel like we are a country western song :) Internet is working very well so I can't upload pictures. I'll try again later!!

On a much happier note! Carson has started "crawling" He gets up on his knees kinda lurches forward then gets up on his knees again! It's really cute! We can't believe how fast he is growing up!!!!

Time is flying by! We can't believe it is November already and Carson is already 4 months old. We had his check-up this week. He is 25.5 inches long and weighs 13 pounds 4 oz. We are still adjusting to life as parents but loving every minute of it! Nobody informed Carson of daylight savings time, so he woke up at 4:30 this morning ready for the day!!

Last weekend our Sunday School class had a pumpkin carving party! It was a lot of fun. Granbury is really starting to feel like home and we have some wonderful friends here! The pictures of the pumpkins are a little fuzzy, but I wanted to show you these pumpkins. Carson had fun hanging out with his friends. Reagan helped feed him and sat with him for a little bit. It was good practice for her because she is going to be a big sister in December!

So, Carson and I were supposed to go visit Amanda and David this weekend in League City while Kevin was in Sacramento for a youth workers convention. But, I chickened out. Carson started crying the second I put him in the car and I decided I was not ready for a 5 hour car ride by myself with a baby. We will go visit them when he gets a little big older. Thank goodness Grammy and Pop's didn't have any plans, because we came to stay with them. Here are some more pictures of Carson.

Carson's First Visit to Lubbock

Carson got to go to Lubbock for the first time over the Labor Day Holiday weekend. He got to spend time with Mimi, Aunt Steffy, Uncle Jason, Grandpaul, and his Godparents Boyd and Julie. He really seemed to enjoy being held and passed around all weekend. And he ate a lot.

We had our two month check-up today. Carson is now 10 lbs 12 oz and 22 1/2 inches long! He did really good with the 5 shots he got today. He did much better than his dad who got blood drawn and almost passed out! Carson has had fun hanging out with his dad this week who stayed home from work on paternity leave. Carson starts daycare next week :(

Long Lost Blog!

So we have not forgotten about the blog! We closed on our house July 28th (so did Andy and Misty!) and have been moving in and unpacking. This week Kevin is out of town for the Jr. High mission trip, so Carson and I packed up and headed to Grammy and Pop's.

Time is flying by! Carson is getting bigger everyday. We had our 2 week check-up yesterday and he weighs 8 lbs 10 oz. He's starting to stay awake more between feedings and he loves looking around. He really likes being outside. I can't wait for it to cool down so we can go outside a little bit more! Here are some pics!

One Week Old!!

I can't believe Carson is already 1 week old (well actually he's one week and 2 days old now)! That week has gone by way too fast. Things just keep getting better everyday. He loves sleeping cuddled up next to mom and dad. He's also sleeping really good in his bassinet. He slept for 4 hours the other night! He likes to play a fun game called wait until I get a clean diaper, then poop!!

Carson Richard Anderson joined us on July 1st at 11:06 pm and weighed in at 7 lbs 13 oz and measured 21 and 1/4 inches. He has the cutest long fingers and toes and likes to be held. Here is a picture of Carson shortly after he was born with Mom and Dad in the delivery room.
